John Cena defeated Batista in an "I Quit" match to retain the WWE Championship in 20:30. The bell rang and Batista grabbed the mic. He said Cena knows he quit last week after Raw went off the air. Batista said he was giving Cena one chance to say he quits before the match started. The referee asked Cena if he wanted to quit.
Cena took his time and said: "You made your point. I...I don't think so." Cena punched Batista with the mic in hand. Weak tease since no one in the building actually thought there was a chance Cena would quit there. Batista quickly took control.
There was a big spot midway through the match where Cena set up Batista for an Attitude Adjustment while standing on one announcers table. However, Batista slipped out and power slammed Cena through the other announcers table. Cena came up bleeding. The ref stuck the mic in Cena's face and asked if he wanted to quit. Cena said no and then the trainer went to work on the cut.
Batista walked over to Cena while the trainer was still working on him. The referee told the trainer to back up. Batista grabbed Cena and threw him over a guardrail and then followed him into the crowd. Batista dragged Cena to the top of the first bowl and slammed his head into the wall.
Batista eventually took Cena to the stage. Cena was beat down near the wall of the stage set. Batista climbed inside a car that was part of the set and backed it into the wall where Cena had been sitting. Cena fired up and went to work on Batista, who said he didn't want to quit.
"I was really hoping you'd say that," Cena said. Cena hoisted up Batista for an Attitude Adjustment while standing on the roof of the car. The ref put the mic in Batista's face. "I quit," yelled Batista to end the match. Cena still performed the Attitude Adjustment off the roof of the car and drove Batista through the grating on the stage and into a hole below.
Cena headed back to the ring to celebrate with the title belt to close the show. After a lengthy celebrating, Cena finally headed up the ramp and onto the stage. He turned around to face the fans one more time. Sheamus came out and nailed him with a big boot to the face. A stretcher was being wheeled into the picture as the show went off the air...
Powell's POV: A strong brawl to close the show. Good effort from both men. They never made me think there was a chance Cena would quit, but I don't think anyone really felt there was a chance anyway. The slow motion replays of Batista taking the bump through the stage were really cool. The post-match attack by Sheamus means that feud will pick right up where Cena vs. Batista left off.
Overall, though, this was a throwaway show. The tag title match wasn't as hot as I expected, Orton's injury spoiled the finish of his match, Swagger vs. Big Show had a lame finish, and no one cares about the Divas. Those four matches taking place consecutively didn't do the card any favors. I'm not sure why they held the Punk vs. Mysterio match so early. Of course, they had no way of knowing Orton would get hurt, but I still would have had Punk vs. Mysterio on later, particularly since the fans were getting what they wanted with the head shaving.
